After seven years at South Norfolk Council I’m leaving to join the E-Commerce Team at Virgin Money. In the end it was an easy decision – not so much to do with it being more money (which nonetheless is very nice), but because it’s a new challenge in a new environment. The council’s been good to me, and I’ve been good to them. Time to move on.
I’ll be based at Virgin Money’s offices on Whiting Road in Norwich, just behind the Homebase and Bennetts (so I’ll be able to drool at the plasma TV screens on lunch breaks). And speaking of lunch breaks, they’ve got a free restaurant. I nearly fell off my seat in the interview when they told me that one.
I’ve made some good friends at the council, who I hope I can stay in touch with. I’ll be back at the council before long anyway, but as a regular South Norfolk resident entitled to complain about how my council tax is being spent.
The move doesn’t affect my status as a freelancer, so I’ll be able to continue doing web design & development work so long as it doesn’t conflict with anything at Virgin Money. I’ve got a couple of interesting projects I’m about to start work on for Ozbon, more details to come soon.
…and you’ll be sorely missed – even if they only realise when they need something done (properly!).
Seriously good move mate – all the best.
Hi Simon, 4:05am! Not Google checkout code keeping you up that late, is it?
