Given the last site in my portfolio was from November last year and it’s now almost summer, I’m thinking it looks like I’ve either a) called it a day or b) got no work to be getting on with. Rather than putting up a tumbleweed animation on the homepage, here’s a quick update on what I’m working on instead.
Hemera Consulting
Firstly there’s a new site for Hemera Consulting Ltd., a Norfolk-based consultancy firm for the education, government and health sectors. This site will be a mix of blog, ‘static’ information pages and a document repository (PDF downloads). The client wants to be able to manage the whole thing himself (quite right too), so we’ll be using WordPress, which these days is rightly considered a capable Content Management System as well as a blogging platform.
The WordPress build and the document repository will be developed by Ozbon
. New logo and branding will come from Tom ‘Hacksaw’ Haczewski
, and I’ll be doing the web design, layout and content.
Hempnall Trust
I’ve won the contract to design and build a website for the Hempnall Trust, a charity in my neck of the woods who provide financial help for the ‘poor and needy’ in the village. This’ll most likely be another WordPress one, since they’ll want to provide news and details of grants (using the blog side of things) as well as static information.
Given that Hempnall residents can make an application for a grant from the Trust, I’m thinking I might put the application process online too, making it easy for people to put their case for some money together.
Green Light Trust
On the subject of charity organisations, Virgin Money employees get one day every year to do some work that will benefit a charity. This year, some of us marketing types have decided to put our skills to use by building a new website for The Green Light Trust
.
This Suffolk-based group help communities across East Anglia create and nurture managed wild spaces. They’re not cardigan-wearing tree huggers, but professional and knowledgable people with a passion for people and nature, and plenty of business acumen. Oh and they built their own headquarters
.
Our project is well under way and we’re aiming to have the site built and launched this summer. Yes we’ll be using up far more than our allotted day to work on it, but working on this on my own time is something I’ve certainly got no problem with.
So there it is. I’m still chugging along, and not yet another recession statistic…
